Podcasting for Financial Professionals is for advisors and financial business owners who believe their expertise deserves a bigger stage—but refuse to let content creation run their life.
Hosted by Virginia Elder, founder of Podcast Abundance, this show strips away hobby-level podcasting advice and focuses on what actually works for high-trust, regulated industries: clear strategy, compliant messaging, and sustainable production that drives authority and real business growth.
If you want a podcast that filters clients, builds trust at scale, and works quietly in the background while you run your firm, you’re in the right place.

As you help others with their money, your impact creates a ripple effect through their families, friends, and anyone they’re in contact with, right?
Chris Miles had that in mind as he learned the hard way about investing in real estate versus 401K-style traditional investments, life insurance policies, and building a business. Finally, when he retired the second time at 39 years old, Money Ripples became the passion project he couldn’t stop talking about.
He’s all about creating true financial freedom through passive income, helping high-income earners crack the code on becoming wealthy, and allowing folks to enjoy life now instead of waiting decades for traditional retirement.
Podcasting and Life Insurance Hacks – Tried and True by Chris Miles
(00:06:15) Reevaluating Traditional Financial Planning Advice Through Experience
(00:17:40) Personalized Main Street Consulting Program for Investments
(00:19:28) Client-Centered Transparency for Business Growth
(00:24:59) Building Trust Through Long-Term Podcasting
(00:30:57) Personalized Approach for Client Growth and Engagement
(00:40:48) Effective Lead Generation through Strategic Incentives
(00:51:19) Creating Financial Impact through Money Ripples
Building Trust Through Long-Term Podcasting & Refining His Strategy Along The Way (11 Years!)
After being on the radio and creating other successful podcasts starting back in 2008, Chris started the Money Ripples podcast in 2014, growing it to the top 1.5% worldwide. Now, podcasting is the primary marketing arm of his business, pulling in 80-90% of his clients.
“What happened is my business doubled, but my profits octupled. You know, by doing that, I just went all in on podcasting.” - Chris Miles
One primary lesson learned from that much podcasting experience is to demonstrate value through stories and examples to connect with listeners/viewers. While story is the first element, including a call-to-action is the second. Your podcast’s CTA should be to a lead magnet (think video course or calculator) where you’ll collect their name and email address in exchange for access. This helps qualify leads and steer them towards high-ticket offerings, resulting in a more engaged and profitable client base.
Podcasting Advice to Help Grow Your Financial Podcast:
- Convert your “lessons” into stories that teach the lesson. Your followers will retain a lesson much more when they’re presented with a story containing a character they identify with in some way.
- Integrate AI into your marketing beyond just using the free version of Chat GPT. With technology changing so quickly now, set aside 1 hour weekly to “play” with a new AI platform like Napkin.ai. When you find one that will be helpful to your business, customize your account until it produces in your voice/style.
- Create online, evergreen, and one-to-many lead magnets like webinars, podcasts, books, and similar items that attract qualified leads without requiring additional hours of your time. A book or e-book can be a lead magnet through a “just pay shipping” promotion.
- If you feel stuck, unmotivated, or unclear take physical action in the form of a walk or workout. Inspiration and answers often come while you’re engaged in activity because while your physical body is moving, your mind opens to creativity and imagination.

Evolving Your Messaging and Actions to Get in Front of the Right Buyers
We discuss positioning, mindset, offer tiers, personal growth as a podcast host, rebranding, and some tangible tips like using LinkedIn to prospect. Most often, when you feel like your marketing is “missing something,” that something is the strategy. The behind-the-scenes thought process, perspective, and intention as you create the content, invite guests, reach out to potential power partners, and create social media posts is paramount to WHO you’re attracting and the price-level at which they purchase.
Don’t worry, this isn’t one of those episodes where we just tell you to make more cold calls, email blast strangers, or double your prices. Two key quotes from Ann made me do a double-take:
(00:18:04) "Anybody that's booked up needs to level up. We should never be booked up. We should always have a really high end offer that you can deliver with a leveraged model that does not take away all of your time." - Ann Carden
(00:27:50) "Content is for buyers, it's not for engagers." - Ann Carden
Actionable Steps to Reach High-Profile Clients Effectively:
- Leverage podcasting, speaking engagements, and virtual events to attract clients in a one-to-many scenario, creating bigger impact in your business in exchange for your time/energy.
- Focus on a clear content production strategy tailored to your specific situation & workload for sustainability
- Select podcast hosts (where you’d guest on their show) and podcast guests (you’d have on your show) strategically to attract high-level clients
- Create (compliant and) educational content to build relationships and influence buyers
- Position yourself as a strategic partner and trusted ally for personalized strategies
- Invest in professional branding elements to attract premium clients
- Optimize your LinkedIn profile and leverage business-focused tools to reach high-level clients

Hosting a podcast for your business isn’t just about getting content out there in hopes an ideal potential client will discover it - it’s about using your voice, expressing your perspective, and becoming well-known enough in your niche that you start to get invited onto other people’s stages. This might mean conferences, corporate events, others’ podcasts, or online summits or webinars. These appearances elevate your authority & get you and your brand exposed to new audiences.
Based on a snippet from Tiffany Grant’s 2024 interview, I’m unpacking 6 takeaways to help you use your podcast to get on more stages and acquire 60-70% of your clients through your show like Tiffany does!

- How podcasting sharpens your speaking and improvisation skills
- Why real-time curiosity and connection matter more than a perfect script or pre-planned questions
- Ways your podcast builds a strong local and online reputation (and leads to more invitations)
- The importance of focusing on the platforms that bring real results for your business
- How personal growth as a host leads directly to more aligned clients and opportunities
Podcasting helped transform her into a confident speaker, a better networker, and a true authority in her space. Whether you’re aiming to get on more stages, land guest spots, or build deeper trust with clients, this episode will show you exactly how podcasting becomes the practice ground that skyrockets your personal — and business — growth.
Action Steps for The Studio
- Treat your podcast like your personal “confidence gym”
- Use your episodes as a portfolio to pitch local panels and conferences
- Track every speaking gig, inquiry, and partnership back to your podcast
- Lean into the channel that works — and measure the true ROI

Growing as a Host to Meet Listener Expectations in 2025 | Ep 69 | Minisode
Thursday Jul 17, 2025
Thursday Jul 17, 2025
Based on a powerful snippet from an interview with Rocky Lalvani from 2024, this episode highlights how your personal growth as a podcast host mirrors the growth you need to succeed as a financial professional. Paired with brand-new insights from the 2025 Podcast Marketing Trends Report, we’re diving into what separates average shows from high-impact, client-attracting podcasts — and how to make sure yours is set up for sustainable growth.
The full interview, How Small Habit Anchors Create Profitable Businesses, stands the test of time and is still worth a listen, even a year and a half later. If you have any interest in or curiosity about Profit First, best practices for your business finances, your time, or your energy, I highly recommend you tune in.
Continuous Development: Improving Hosting Abilities and Confidence
Rather than just sharing this at a conceptual level, I’m sharing how to implement the advice gleaned from Rocky and this new marketing trends report, and how the action might look in your business.
In this episode:
- How building confidence and better interview skills directly helps you serve clients better
- Why generic, repetitive podcast formats lose audience trust (and what to do instead)
- The 2025 Podcast Marketing Trends Report findings that prove interviews still work — and longer episodes are thriving
- Why consistency is your biggest credibility marker (and how to maintain it sustainably)
- Encouragement for business owners worried about “crowded” business and finance categories
The Art of Guiding Conversations: Elevating Guest Experience
How you structure and prepare for interviews is a window into how you’ll approach client work, so ensure your show reflects the level of professionalism you want portrayed to a potential client base.
- Thoroughly prepare questions and research guests before interviews
- Guide conversations to meet audience needs rather than following a formula
- Consistently develop hosting skills and build confidence to attract high-profile guests

Simplify Episode Production With Pre-Recorded Elements | Ep 68 | Minisode
Thursday Jul 10, 2025
Thursday Jul 10, 2025
Examine the advice given on episode 4 of this show by Anthony Weaver of About That Wallet:
Create pre-recorded elements for your show
Even today, in July of 2025, this advice stands reliable. When listeners hear a familiar set of words, cadence, music, and message, they subconsciously develop trust for you and your show. Plus, pre-recorded podcast intros, outros, and commercials for your episodes make your life easier as the host.
Crafting Professional Intros, Outros, and Commercials for Podcasting
- Create pre-recorded intros, outros, and commercials for consistent messaging
- Focus on content creation by using pre-recorded elements in podcasts
- Maintain a consistent call to action across all podcast episodes
(00:07:46) "Creating a premixed intro, outro, and commercial set of premixed components for each thing is up to you and your team to just look at the year, look at your content plan, and be strategic about which CTA you're running each quarter and why." - Virginia Elder
Ensuring Consistency: The Power of Pre-Recorded Podcast Elements
Learn why and how to create formulaic elements that feature your desired CTA and all 5 of the essential elements. Want to get really creative? Create a few “sets” of intro, outro, and ad elements for your show, with each set featuring a single CTA.
Listen to the full episode to discover how to map this to your content calendar for your brand for the full year, how to integrate your pre-recorded elements with an episode-specific guest intro, and other creative ideas on how to use pre-mixed components to benefit you, your podcast, and your listeners.

Become a Published Author The Easy Way- Use a Ghostwriter | Lynn Smargis | Ep 67
Thursday Jul 03, 2025
Thursday Jul 03, 2025
By publishing a well-written, professionally edited book that helps your current or potential clients, your authority and notoriety are automatically elevated in your niche.
Plus, your blog or podcast content can easily be repurposed into a book, with the help of a professional ghostwriter and editor. This is truly the lowest-lift way to get your personality, experience, and perspective into a written format.
Sure, AI can be helpful, but you and I both know that AI writes like AI, and a book written using AI might actually diminish your reputation and professionalism in the eyes of a reader.
Lynn Smargis of writeforyou.me has been ghostwriting books for professionals of all niches for 6+ years, in addition to publishing several of her own. She’s a well-known writer and editor in the podcasting space because she’s skilled at identifying pieces of content you’ve already created (like podcast interviews!) that can be repurposed into a book.

Strategic Book Writing and Marketing for Financial Professionals
Lynn focuses on minimizing the barriers you feel around becoming a published author and minimizing the time you need to spend writing. Through her book coaching, Lynn guides clients through the writing process, addressing doubts and imposter syndrome, while highlighting the importance of various editing forms, such as line and organizational editing, to create polished and appealing books.
Our conversation underscores the significance of effective book marketing strategies, including leveraging personal connections and podcast appearances, and advocates for using AI and virtual assistants to enhance content distribution, ultimately helping financial professionals establish authority and maintain a consistent online presence.
In-episode Actionable Insights to Fast-Track Your Financial Content:
- Utilize professional editing services for a polished final manuscript
- Ensure your “voice” remains consistent throughout written, spoken, and video content for your brand, even if it’s assisted by AI or written by a ghostwriter
- Book marketing strategies include guesting on podcasts, email campaigns, workshops, speaking at conferences, hosting webinars, hosting your own podcast, and collaborating with other professionals to host events.
- Repurpose book content into smaller articles for consistent marketing material
- Hire a virtual assistant for content distribution and appointment setting
- Match your business goals to your podcasting strategy for best results
- Use AI to generate content, but customize it for various platforms and edit it so it sounds like something you’d really say

Your email welcome sequence is like the Swiss Army knife of digital marketing- versatile, effective, and 100% automated once it’s set up. In fact, having an active email subscriber platform and nurture sequence is KEY for business owners with a podcast.
Since there’s no direct link between your followers being podcast listeners and actually being able to sign up for your services, email marketing is the bridge between the content you’re creating and the service you want to sell. This episode is your one-stop shop to solving your content-to-sale gap! Here’s what she says about your choice to outsource:
"I know that I can and I'm choosing not to. So, who can I find that I can trust? That becomes the question." - Allea Grummert
Listen in to learn about Allea’s experience in becoming the expert copywriter she is today, how she trains and manages her team, how her packages and services have helped clients make sales, and about her recent podcast launch. Find out how she launched her podcast in just 6 months, determined that it was a “worth-it” long-term strategy, and how she’s navigating this season of new team roles and new podcast workflows.

(00:58:02) Evaluating Podcast Statistics for a New Show
Thanks to her brand-new podcast, Happy Subscribers, Allea’s experienced more-than-expected personal growth over the past several months. While she decided on a pattern of 3 interviews to one solo show, the intention to present her knowledge as a concept rather than a how-to or instructional episode has been the biggest challenge. Here are a few questions she asks herself when creating solo episodes:
- What’s your strong opinion on a commonly-held belief in your niche?
- What are your clients asking about?
- What’s something you’ve observed?
- What is a problem you’re seeing in the industry?
These questions will help you create content that establishes you as an expert and thought leader, rather than the how-to content that’s seemingly default for service providers.

Do you ever hit Record and immediately forget what you were going to say? Or maybe you freeze up and sound robotic the minute the camera turns on? This episode is your solution.
I'm walking you through how to script your episodes in a way that feels authentic, confident, and completely natural—whether you’re reading word-for-word or using bullet points.
